The Medflash II System produces a beam of light of many wavelengths which penetrate the skin at different levels and specifically targets the hair root. During the fraction of a second that it takes for the light to pulse, the dark pigment present in the hair root is vaporised and future hair growth in that follicle is disabled.
Who is not suited to permanent hair reduction?
- Persons who have had UV or solarium exposure in the last 6 weeks
- Persons who have used self tanning lotions in the last 2 weeks
- Persons with white or grey hair (no pigment in the follicle)
What does the treatment feel like?
You will experience a sting for a split second similar to the flick of a rubber band. The treated area may become slightly red. This is a normal response and will settle within a short time.
After the treatment we apply the MED FLASH II built in skin cooler for your comfort. Sun block will be applied to exposed areas prior to leaving the Clinic.
How often do I need treatments?
A follow up appointment will be scheduled before you leave, usually 2 to 4 weeks later. The best results are obtained for clients who have follow up treatments within the period advised. Clients who leave a longer period between treatments usually do not achieve optimal results.
How many treatments will I need?
This will be thoroughly discussed at the time of your initial consultation. The number of treatments required depends on the type of hair and skin type treated. Generally, most areas require somewhere between 4 to 8 treatments.
How does hair grow?
Hair grows in three phases;

1. Growth phase (anagen) In this phase the root contains a high volume of dark colour and the hair is in an active phase. This is the phase where the best hair reduction is achieved. |

2. Regression phase (catagen) This phase is when the root of the hair begins to stop growing but the hair is still intact. |

Will I ever need retreating?
Any hair in the Anagen stage that is treated will NOT return. However, major hormonal
changes, pregnancy and disease or injury may sometimes cause your body to produce
new hair follicles that previously did not contain treatable hair. If this is the case, you may
require further treatment, however this is generally a smaller area with reduced treatment
times and costs.
